Common will be gracing the big screen in the near future. The Chicago rapper and actor is set to join the 24 Hours To Live cast along with Xu Quig and Ethan Hawke.

24 Hours To Live is a film about a long-time assassin who has a second chance at living after a close call almost cost him his life. The Brian Smrz-directed project is set to start filming in South Africa soon.

Common is constantly adding to his resume and creating a legacy in film as a crossover actor. So far this year, Common has starred in Barbershop 3 alongside Ice Cube. In 2014 he won an Academy Award for the title track in Ava Duvernay‘s Selma.

In 2014 Common released his 10th studio album, Nobody’s Smiling. This year he’s also set to make an appearance in Suicide Squad and John Wick: Chapter Two. Common is currently coming off a tour of Australia and is set to hit the stages of Atlanta, Minnesota, Maryland, and Chicago this summer.

This year, Common will be lending his talents to several movie roles across various genres. Common has authored four books and narrated the documentary Bouncing Cats, a film about Hip Hop’s influence on kids in Uganda. In a recent interview, he revealed what drives him. “The sentiment behind what I’m feeling is a great feeling because you want to create art that can move people and better the world.”
