The Weeknd and rapper Belly have nixed their scheduled performance on Jimmy Kimmel Live because Republican Presidential nominee Donald Trump would be appearing on the same episode.

“I just didn’t want to feel like I was a part of a celebration for somebody who has beliefs that [the] majority of us don’t agree with,” said Belly, who co-wrote several of Abel Tesfaye’s a.k.a. The Weeknd’s songs, including “Earned It” and “The Hills,” in a statement provided to AP. “I feel like the way I was raised was to be able to see through all the titles in this world, from religion to race.”

According to the Associated Press, the two were scheduled to record their set in Los Angeles yesterday [Wednesday, May 25] but decided to withdraw last minute.
