While a lot of us were trying to master the art of mascara and eyeliner at 17 years old, Amandla Stenberg is setting the tone of ‘Black Girl Magic’ at its finest.
Most recently, Amandla took home the ‘Young, Black, and Gifted’ award at BET’s Black Girls Rock! and just landed a role starring in the upcoming #BlackLivesMatter film by George Tillman Jr. In addition, Amandla just launched a new comic book franchise that she will simultaneously star in. But, the icing on the cake is her newly released short film Blue Girls Burn Fast, which she wrote, produced, shot, directed and edited by herself.
Short in length but powerful in impact, Blue Girls Burn Fast was Amandla’s application film to NYU’s film school, in which she was accepted. It’s exciting to know that we can expect more progressive creative content from Amandla, who has yet to let us down when it comes to self promotion, acceptance, and awareness of the African American culture as a whole.
