Jurnee Smollett-Bell (Friday Night Lights, The Great Debaters, True Blood), Angela Bassett and John Legend all hit the red carpet yesterday for the premiere of WGN’s forthcoming Underground series, which focuses around the solidarity of a determined set of men and women, forced to work together for a necessary common goal. From the press release:

Last night, WGN America hosted the world premiere of its highly anticipated escape thriller, Underground at The Theatre at Ace Hotel in Downtown Los Angeles. The red carpet event included a screening at The Theatre, which was immediately followed by an after-party with the cast, crew and VIP attendees on the hotel’s upstairs rooftop lounge. Underground premieres on Wednesday, March 9 at 10pm ET/PT on WGN America. The provocative and compelling series focuses on a group of courageous men and women who band together for the fight of their lives – for their families, their future and their freedom.

The show itself will star Smollett-Bell, former Law & Order: Special Victims Unit star Christopher Meloni, Straight Outta Compton‘s Neil Brown Jr. and more. Check out some of the photos from last night’s star-studded event in the gallery below.
