The football world might have forgotten about Aaron Hernandez since he was sentenced to life in prison after he was convicted on first degree murder charges this past April but the former New England Patriots star is not done making headlines. Guards at the Souza Baranowski Correctional Center in Massachusetts were in the midst of a shakedown of Hernandez’ cell on Thursday when they discovered a “shank-like” weapon. The former Pro Bowler was immediately taken out of general population and moved to a segregation unit.

The former tight end was convicted of first degree murder for the 2013 killing of Odin Lloyd. The trial was highly publicized considering the nature of the crime and Hernandez’ celebrity status. This isn’t his first time in trouble while behind bars. Back in May, he allegedly agreed to be the lookout while two inmates fought. Also, while awaiting trial back in 2014 in Bristol County House of Correction in Dartmouth, Massachusetts, he reportedly punched another inmate after a heated exchange.

Aaron Hernandez is set to begin trial for a 2012 Boston double murder, which is set to begin January 2016.
