Rumors have surfaced that Nike is preparing to replace Cristiano Ronaldo as the face of Nike Soccer with the Brazilian star Neymar.

Mexico’s Economíahoy has reported that the change would take place at the beginning of 2016. Neymar, 23, has become a superstar not only for his play with his national team, but his league play after teammate Lionel Messi’s knee injury earlier this year.

Cristiano Ronaldo, 30, is a three-time winner of the of the Ballon d’Or, but is believed to be headed to the down side of his career after playing professionally since the age of 16.

As the new face of the franchise, it’s expected that Neymar will receive his own signature collection, like his predecessor.
