Hunger Games actress Amandla Stenberg has released her very own comic book, Niobe: She Is Life, a collaboration with Stranger Comics CEO Sebastian A. Jones.
The comic book focuses on lead character, badass bi-racial orphan Niobe Ayutami (half human, half elf), who struggles with issues surrounding her racial identity, acceptance and self-love, mirroring Stenberg’s own battles.
As the young heroine fights to save the fantasy world of Asunda, she simultaneously embarks upon a wondrous journey of self-discovery. During a recent interview with The Huffington Post, Stenberg had this to say about the character:
“She is on a path to a destiny that will test her faith and her will, something we can all relate to… But there’s never been a character quite like her – one who shatters the traditional ideal of what a hero is. We need more badass girls!”
The 17-year-old starlet was recently (and rightfully) named one of TIME Magazine‘s most influential teens. Purchase your copy of Niobe: She Is Life here.
