The beautiful and talented Taraji P. Henson deserves all blessings heading her way

Saturday Night Live tweeted that Taraji P. Henson will be making her hosting debut on April 11th. This is a huge deal because the show has been on-air for 40 years and poorly represents women and minorities. There has only been 9 black female hosts on Saturday Night Live history. Taraji will make the 10th.  The nine other African-American women who hosted Saturday Night Live are Cicely Tyson (1979), Oprah Winfrey (1986), Halle Berry (2003), Janet Jackson (2004), Queen Latifah (2004), Rosario Dawson (2009), Maya Rudolph (2012), Gabourey Sidibe (2010), and Kerry Washington (2013). Absolutely no black female hosts in the 1990s, hmm….

The show has been making a few efforts to diversify its cast. Hopefully the pendulum continues to swing in that direction. I can’t wait to see Taraji on SNL. What about you? Share this article with your comments.
