Drake’s new album may actually be shots fired at Birdman.
Anyone who follows hip hop in any way knows that Cash Money Records has been having a host of issues over the past few months. First, Tyga started telling everyone that they were holding his album hostage, and there was nothing he could do about it. Then afterwards, Lil Wayne started telling us about the same troubles, actually going so far as to say that he was being held prisoner by his label because Birdman wasn’t releasing The Carter V. Soon after, we saw that Lil Wayne was suing Birdman for a host of issues. Then, this week, there have been allegations that Birdman had sexual relations with rapper Starship God in order for the latter to get a record deal. Plain and simple, the Cash Money Records empire seems to be falling apart.
Drake may have truly nailed the lid in the coffin, though. As the Internets all knows, Drake dropped an album the other night, but it wasn’t really an album. This was a pre-release for his highly anticipated up-coming album Views From The 6. As many people know, Drake had a four album deal with Cash Money, and by releasing If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late as an album, he has contractually fulfilled his obligations. Further, the title of the pseudo album really makes you wonder if that was a direct shot at Birdman to say that he’s been had. What do you guys think?
